Rigid Couplings
Rigid couplings with taper bushes provide a simple and effective way of coupling mild steel shafts up to 125mm diameter, but cannot accommodate any shaft misalignment. Their power transmission capability is defined by the slip torque of the taper bush.
Tyre Couplings
Tyre couplings consist of a torsionally elastic tyre mounted between two cast iron flanges which are shaft mounted by way of taper bushes. They can accommodate up to 4° shaft misalignment as well as some parallel and axial misalignments, although extremes will limit service life of both coupling and supporting bearings.
HRC Couplings
HRC couplings are similar to Jaw couplings in construction but offer a cost effective solution for higher loads and speeds. A taper bush fixing allows for quick and easy assembly with the interlocking “dogs” offering a fail safe capability.
Jaw Couplings
Jaw couplings consist of 2 machined hubs with a variety of elements between them to cater for the demand of low cost, general purpose couplings. They absorb some shock loads and limited misalignment. They are ideally suited to machinery driven by standard IEC electric motors. Available with taper sleeve fitting, or bored and keyed for even easier assembly, for shafts up to 100mm or 4”.
