NBC stocks a broad range of split roller bearings
Our engineers design, manufacture, and supply components to your exact specification. Contact us to discuss your project.
Cooper split bearings are commonly supplied in two different designs: the fixed type, which has the suffix ‘GR’, and the expansion type, which uses ‘EX’.
The outer race of the fixed bearing has shoulders integral with the roller track, while the inner race assembly has shoulders formed by hardened lips on the clamping rings or similar integral shoulders. This type of bearing provides axial location to the rotating portions of machinery and can sustain both radial and axial loading. The inner race halves are accurately aligned by means of fitted clamping rings.
The expansion-type bearing has a plain outer race roller track and takes radial loads only. The inner race is clamped to the shaft and moves axially with it when expansion or contraction occurs. The expansion bearing offers virtually no resistance to axial movement as the rollers spiral through the outer race.
The most common mounting option would be the pedestal. The actual design, along with the number of fixing bolts, can vary depending on the bearing size.
The Cooper units can offer three standard series for most shaft sizes:
01 series – Medium Duties
02 series – Heavy Duties
03 series – Extra Heavy Duties
