Slewing ring drive packages now from one source
Slewing rings carry large axial, radial and moment loads within a compact dimension envelope and are used in a wide range of industrial machines. Their use offers an elegant solution to the problem of load carrying, stability and power transmission. This approach fits well with a planetary gear assembly and as such Rossi gear motors Limited UK has joined forces with NBC Group of Telford, UK to offer complete solutions in any slewing applications.
Both companies will work together to deliver an engineered solution for slewing gear application through NBC. NBC group currently design, manufacture and stocks a comprehensive range of slewing rings while Rossi UK with the investment in Local assembly of the modular Rossi planetary range allows for a rapid solution built around experience and technical know how.
Rossi UK continues to develop its service offering in order to provide a comprehensive service and planetary product range. With the release of the new EPS slewing range from its parent company Rossi Spa of Italy it now has the ability to offer the market a viable alternative to primary drives mechanisms for slewing rings.
The new EPS range is principally made up of 4 output designs across each output stage up to a torque range of 250,000Nm. Utilising the modular gear set components from the standard catalogue the range allows for primary drives systems be they hydraulic, electric or other. The four output designs are built around an integral pinion shaft, however based on the modularity of the product range an external pinion gear can be fitted to a splined male output shaft. All output units will be optimised for eccentricity to allow for correct interfacing between the pinion and the slewing gear itself.
NBC Group manufactures slewing rings and slew drives under the brand name of QCB® and offer direct equivalents to other global slewing brands. NBC Group carries a wide range of stock of up to 2 000mm diameter and can custom design any for ball, x-roller, angular contact, double row, triple row or even wire race bearings up to 15 000mm outside diameter.
Together both Rossi and NBC utilizing their individual product range and experience believe this partnership sets them apart from many "number traders" in this market. With certification such as ATEX or even DNV being available for both the slewing and planetary units, the applications are no longer limited to isolated applications. NBC already supplies slewing rings for aerospace and military applications, high radiation area nuclear handling equipment, large diameter offshore applications and many other "specials" including split slewing rings. The inclusion of a principle drive package allows for turn key projects with the backing of one of the fastest growing planetary brands at the moment.
