QCB Slewing drives are inherently easy to install and require little maintenance, but suitable preparation of the mounting structure is important.
Our engineers design, manufacture, and supply components to your exact specification. Contact us to discuss your project.
Before installation:-
The permissible horizontal deviation of the mounting surface is tabulated below
| Slew drive size | 3 | 5 | 7 | 9 | 12 | 14 | 17 | 19 | 21 | 25 | |
| Permissible flatness deviation | mm | 0.04 | 0.1 | 0.1 | 0.12 | 0.15 | 0.26 | 0.15 | 0.17 | 0.2 | 0.2 |
QCB Slew drives are supplied pre greased with SINOPEC 7014-1 synthetic grease suitable for an operating temperature range of -40°C to +200°C. The onus rests with the client to ensure the bearings are lubricated during installation.
QCB Slew drives will require lubricant to be applied to the slew ring raceway, the taper roller bearings at each end of the worm shaft, and to the worm gear itself.
| Item | 7014-1 | Test Methods |
| Appearance | Beige Smooth Buttery | Eye View |
| Dropping Point °C | ≥280 | GB/T3498 |
| 1/4 Penetration (60 strokes),0.1mm | 70 | GB/T269 |
| Corrosion Test(T3Cu,100 °C,3h) | Pass | SH/T0331 |
| Apparent Viscosity(-40 °C,10s-1), Pas | 683 | SH/T0048 |
Under normal operating conditions (<2rpm; low to medium loads, -30°C to +60°C) it is recommended that the bearings and slew ring raceway are greased as follows:-
| Dry, clean industrial workshop | Every 500 hours of operation or 12 months |
| Wet, dirty environment | Every 250 hours of operation or 6 months |
| Aggressive conditions or continuous operation | Every 150 hours or 4 months |
| Extreme conditions | Every 50 hours or 2 months |
Consider using the GreaseMax automatic lubricators for continuous “fit and forget” maintenance.
| Slew drive size | Quantity of grease to be applied (gr) | |||||||||
| 3 | 5 | 7 | 9 | 12 | 14 | 17 | 19 | 21 | 25 | |
| Raceway | 10-15 | 15-20 | 30-35 | 45-50 | 55-60 | 70-75 | 95-100 | 120-130 | 140-150 | |

Compatible greases include:-
ISOFLEX NBU 15; Dow-Corning 44; Mobiltemp SHC 100; Mobiltemp SHC 32; Caltex Unitemp 550
NOTE: QCB stock 380 gr cartridges (MOBIL SHC100 CART) as well as the full range of GreaseMax units prefilled with MOBIL SHC100 (grease code F239)
When fitting the slew drive, remove the shipping bolts, and mounting bolts to ISO Grade 10.9 should be used.
If required, ask NBC Technical to check the bolt strength calculation.
Flat washers of the appropriate size and strength may be used to reduce under bolt head pressure. Split or conical washers may not be used.
| Metric bolt tightening torques (Nm) | ||
| Bolt diameter | Grade 10.9 | Grade 12.9 (Cap screws) |
| M8 | 33 ± 3 | 45 ± 6 |
| M10 | 72 ± 6 | 90 ± 10 |
| M12 | 120 ± 10 | 150 ± 20 |
| M16 | 305 ± 25 | 380 ± 50 |
| M18 | 415 ± 35 | 521 ± 70 |
| M20 | 600 ± 50 | 750 ± 100 |
Tighten the bolts in a crosswise pattern, first to 30%, then to 50% and finally to 100% of the recommended torque figure. After 100 hours of operation the bolt torques must be checked; thereafter annual inspection should suffice. Mark the position of the tightened bolt head so that later inspection can reveal if it has moved in service.
QCB Slew drives feature standard NBR rubber seals. These should be checked during maintenance and replaced if they have deteriorated.
QCB slewing drives are usually imported and stocked with the motor mounted on the right hand side If requested we can change the units to left hand motor mount before despatch, but this is easily accomplished in the field.
QCB Slew drives can be rotated by manual, hydraulic or electrical means.
MANUAL: The non-drive end of worm shaft has a hexagon head to enable the shaft to be turned manually. Some clients make hand cranks with suitable ends to engage in the drive end.
We can supply from stock a stub shaft and cover to lock the bearings in place if required. (25mm shafts only)
HYDRAULIC: Tabulated herewith ADAN motor data for maximum torque at 3 rpm. Other options may be satisfactory depending on the load and speeds required.
